June 2017 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

I'm back to share the card I made for this month's Papertrey Ink blog hop.  Here's a link to the inspiration photo.  I love that blue ombre vase with the peach flowers--so pretty!  Here's my take on the card:

Since the "sponged ink on the back of vellum" technique worked so well on the card I posted yesterday, I thought I'd try it again on this card.  I die cut the Mega Gracious Vases from vellum and sponged two shades of pink on the back of one vase and two shades of blue on the back of the other to mimic the gradient ombre look of the vases in the inspiration photo.  I discovered that despite the multitude of floral stamp sets I have in my collection, very few of the flowers work well with the narrow openings of the vases in Mega Gracious Vases.  I finally settled on one flower in the Life set that seemed to fit appropriately.  I added a simple sentiment from the Choose Joy set to finish off the panel.  Since I have enough paper to last several life times, I'm on a mission to make a dent in my patterned paper hoard stash so I cut a piece to mat behind my journal card die cut.

Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop: Stay Cool

I'm back!  Can't believe the last time I posted was for the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  I've definitely been crafting, just haven't taken the time to post.

For this season's blog hop, I opted to create a cold brew card.  The warm temps here in the Pacific Northwest definitely make me want iced coffee when I stop at Starbucks!

I rewarded myself after work last night and spent some time in the craft room putting together this card.  The water color panel was my inspiration for the colors I chose and figured the best drink to pair with the cool tones was an iced matcha tea latte.  I used the MFT cool cup die and cut the cup and lid out of vellum and sponged Papertrey Ink New Leaf ink onto the back of the vellum cup.  Cool effect!  I was especially proud of myself for using up some of the enamel dots and some patterned paper in my stash.  I have enough of both to last a lifetime, so might as well use 'em and not hoard 'em!

I have yard work calling my name, so I'd best take care of that before it gets too hot today and then I can come back and check out all of the great projects posted for the hop!
