Beep Beep: Special Delivery!

In my "Thanks for your support" post last week I mentioned that I would be sending a special card to all of my friends who have been so supportive to me while I battle Hodgkin's lymphoma. I'm also making each of them a special gift, a decorated note pad. I work for UPS, so my coworker friends will receive this note pad. I used this same design several years ago on a calendar page. This image is A Muse's ice cream truck, with the ice cream cone and music notes masked off. The "special delivery" sentiment is also from A Muse.

I'll be brief

Here is my entry for the June home page contest on the A Muse Addicts site. This month's theme is in celebration of men. The boy short stamp is one of my favorites, but I haven't used it in awhile. I bought the clothes line stamp (Hero Arts) with the intent to hang baby clothes on it for a baby card. I still will probably do that, but I thought it worked out well for this card too. The boy short stamp and "a brief note" stamp are both from A Muse.

Hats off to the grads!

It's graduation time! One of the discussions on the A Muse Addicts site is card ideas for grads. I've made several graduation cards over the years, and wish I had been better about taking photos of all of them. However, I did find a couple of pictures of cards I made a few years ago in my photo gallery. Here they are. Grad cap and diploma stickers are by Jolee's Boutique. The metal plaque sticker is from Making Memories.

Gift Card Holder

One of my Mother's Day gifts for mom this year is the renewal of her Barnes and Noble Reader's Advantage card. I wanted a creative way to give the card back to her, so I whipped up this super easy gift card holder with one of A Muse's Madeira 4 bar note cards. The bookstore stamp is also by A Muse, which I colored with Prismacolor markers. The notch tab was created with the Basic Grey notch & die cutting tool. I've had the tool for several years, but I had put it away and forgot all about it. It was still in its packaging when I unearthed it in a cupboard!

Thanks for your support!

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in early March. While this is a rare form of cancer, the cure rate is very high (upwards of 85%). Of course, I don't think anyone wishes to get cancer, but I was fortunate enough to be one of the ones who experienced symptoms and my doctors diagnosed it early (I'm at stage 2). Next week I will hit the half way mark for chemotherapy. I'm scheduled to conclude chemo in August, and then will follow up with a month of radiation in September.

The support that I have received from my family, friends and coworkers has been amazing. I am truly blessed to have such a huge network of caring people in my life, and I am certain that they are reason I am doing as well as I am during this battle.

Chemotherapy destroys one's immune system, so I am having to live like a hermit at home for much of my treatment. On the positive side, this has allowed me a lot more time to indulge in my creative passion! I have come up with a card that I will be sending to those who have been so supportive to me during this bump in the road.

Most people know that pink is the color for the breast cancer awareness campaign. In researching Hodgkin's disease, I discovered violet is the awareness color. So, this card is my take on Hodgkin's awareness and is my way of thanking my family and friends for believing in me. This card uses My Favorite Things "Think Pink" clear stamp set and A Muse note card and "thanks for your support stamp." Here is the inside of the card:

Pink Flower Power!

I made this card for my sister, who is crazy about pink and flowers. Actually, this card is part of an accordion file full of cards I made for her birthday. She asked me to make her a set of thank you notes, and I thought this design would be perfect for her. Hopefully she won't be peeking at my blog any time soon! Sorry for the crooked image; I didn't get it lined up right when I scanned it in.
