Celebrating PTI's 8th Anniversary: Color & Sketch Challenge

When your creative juices aren't flowing, it's nice to be able to pull out some color combinations and card sketches to help jump start the crafting process.  I chose this color recipe and this card sketch to inspire my card for the first Papertrey Ink anniversary challenge:

And my card is below.  I just got a new version of Photoshop Elements and I'm still learning, so bear with me and hopefully my photo editing will improve.

I chose to make my card square rather than the standard A2 size.  I used Balloon Bash and Wet Paint III stamps and dies.  Believe it or not, the yellow paper is Lemon Tart Bitty Box, and not Harvest Gold as it appears in the photo.

New Year, New Look

I'm back!  Sadly my blog was neglected for most of last year.  Life was just busy and when I had the time to sit down and make something, that's pretty much all I had time to do.  The photographing, post drafting and blog publishing stuff just didn't happen.

I'm back now and I decided it was time to freshen up the blog a bit.  So I applied a much cleaner, simpler template--still blue, though!  It was time for a face lift.  I can't promise I'll post real frequently, but hopefully I can beat my pitiful five posts from last year!

June Blog Hop

Oh boy.  It's been awhile since I've posted!  I've been creating, just not photographing many of my projects.  I decided to play along with this month's Papertrey Ink blog hop just for fun and was taken with the bright, summery colors in the inspiration photo.

Here's my project for the challenge (click on photo to enlarge):

Flipping Out is such a fun summer set.  All I want to do is die cut a bunch of flip flops and get to stamping with the playful patterns!  The inside of the card says "Happy Anniversary."  A cute card to celebrate a special relationship.

February 2014 PTI Blog Hop: Sweet Spring

I'm back to share my February blog hop project which was to create something for spring.  The Pacific Northwest has had a relatively uneventful winter; certainly tame compared to our friends on the opposite coast, so I can't complain.  Just lots of rain and cool temperatures, so I'm ready for some sunshine!

I decided to get a leg up on Easter and create a couple of treat containers using the sweet chick image from the Scrambled Eggs set.  I made a couple of match books using the large polka dot patterned paper in Summer Sunrise and Aqua Mist  and slipped a clear cellophane bag of jelly beans inside each one.

Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary: Creating with Digital Images

Happy Friday Eve!  I made time tonight to make one card using one of the freebie digital images for the Papertrey Ink anniversary celebration.  There are several cute images and I plan to make some cards with all of them, but here's the one I was able to complete tonight:

Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary Challenge: Color Recipe Card and Sketch Recipe Card

Hello!  I'm back to share a quick card I made tonight as part of Papertrey Ink's 7th Anniversary festivities which was to select a color combination and sketch layout from a selection of recipe card inspiration files.

My card is based on this color combination:

January 2014 PTI Blog Hop: Pretty in Pink

Hello!  This is my first post for 2014 and it's still January so I think it's still okay to say Happy New Year to you!  I'm so happy I was able to make the time to participate in this month's PTI blog hop, even if that meant getting up at 4 am on a Saturday to finish my card!  There's dedication to a hobby for you!

This month's blog hop theme was all about pink.  With Valentine's Day approaching and a sister who adores pink in mind, it didn't take me too long to come up with my design and it was a lot of fun to try out the Confetti Garland stamps and dies.  I tend to make my cards bulky by using a lot of layers or adding embellishments.  The only draw back is that they are  expensive to mail, so I'm going to try hard this year to make more mail friendly cards.  I was able to achieve dimension on this card by adding the paper panel to the card base with foam tape.  It's still a very simple card but the foam tape gives it just a bit more interest.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Enjoy your weekend!
