PTI Make It Monday: Vellum Sentiment Strip

Happy Sunday evening! I'm just making the deadline for the PTI Make It Monday challenge to create a card with a vellum sentiment strip. I see I need to work on applying my Scor-Tape so it doesn't show through the vellum! This card features three new items I recently added to my craft arsenal: the Beautiful Blooms II #3 dies; Healing Touch stamp set and some new paper from My Mind's Eye--the Stella and Rose Gertie collection.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a good week!

PaperTrey Playhouse Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday to you! I played along with the current PaperTrey Playhouse sketch challenge posted here. I don't follow sketches challenges nearly enough, and I find that they're really helpful because the hard part is done for me! I often struggle with coming up with new and interesting card layouts, and usually revert back to previous ones that have worked in the past. It's nice to freshen things up a bit.

This card features lots of Memory Box paper. I used the PTI Fillable Frames #9 die to cut the tag insert and stamped it with the "Wonderful Friend" sentiment from the Round & Round anniversary set. The frame die cut and two flowers were from a package of K & Co. die cut embellishments. The Valentine sentiment is from Savvy Stamps.

I made this card as part of a batch I did for my mom. She got behind this year and wasn't able to make her own Valentines, so I offered to make some for her. She needed 12 and she wanted them all to be different and flat with no extra embellishments because she didn't want to pay for extra postage. Believe it or not, I got all 12 done last weekend. Today we are off to the post office to mail our valentines!

Make It Mondays: Go-To Sentiment Challenge

PaperTrey Ink kicked off its Make It Mondays series this week and featured a project by Erin Lincoln called "Go-To Sentiment." This challenge inspires you to go through your stamp sets and pick out similar sentiments and pair them on a card. I took the challenge a step further and decided to make a card for an occasion or sentiment I don't do very often--Congratulations. I also opted for an embellishment that I tend to avoid simply because it's messy and by the end of my project I tend to look like I bathed in it--glitter!

I chose Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores and Smokey Shadow as my color combination. This card features congrats sentiments from six different stamp sets (see card details list below for specifics) and some die cut stars from the Seeing Stars die set that I covered in "Lily White" glitter. Now I have a congratulatory card in my stash for when the next occasion for celebration arises!

Thanks for stopping by!

Card details:
PTI: Card stock in Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores and Smokey Shadow; Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores and Smokey Shadow inks; Seeing Stars dies; Communique Curves sentiments set; Simple Sentiments set; Let Freedom Ring; Big & Bold Wishes; Signature Greetings; Masculine Motifs; Everyday Classics. Stickles: Buttercup. Doodlebug: Lily White glitter. Neenah Classic Crest white paper.

The Party Continues...

Day 2 of the PTI Anniversary festivities and we were given the opportunity to download a great freebie page of tags created by the amazing PTI stamp designers. I look forward to working with the rest of the tags, but today I was able to create two cards with a couple of the images. First up is the tag designed by Alli Miles. I have to say I think this card is one of my all time favorites (feel free to click on the picture for a closer look). The color combination is totally new for me. I paired Alli's flower tag which I colored with Copics and embellished with Buttercup Stickles, with her birthday greeting from the Communique Curves sentiment set on top of some Distressed Dots paper. The black card base was stamped with some of the larger polka dots from Polka Dot Basics 2. I'm really pleased with this card, and I can't wait to print out more of Alli's tag!

The second card I created features Lisa Johnson's cute heart tag. Some more Copic coloring, Limitless Layer die cut and Mat Stack 1 die cut and banner die cut, some great images from the Round & Round anniversary set and fun papers from Memory Box complete this card.

Happy Anniversary PaperTrey Ink!

PaperTrey Ink is celebrating its 4th anniversary. As part of the festivities, customers are invited to post their favorite PTI project they created over the past year. This was pretty easy for me to select. I originally posted this card last summer to share the birthday card I made for a dear friend's birthday. I re-posted it again in late December as one of my top 10 cards for 2010. This card was inspired by Dawn McVey, who always comes up with unique color combinations and shares fun products (e.g. like the Martha Stewart doily tags) she's discovered that quickly become favorites for her fan base! Thanks for the never-ending inspiration and enabling, Dawn!

PaperTrey Playhouse Challenge: Love

I'm just making the deadline to post for the latest PaperTrey Playhouse challenge, which is to make a Valentine or love card but not use the typical red or pink colors. I paired black and burgundy together to come up with this unique Valentine for my mom. The flourish die cut was in my scrap bin, left over from another project and I used it as my main source of inspiration for the card. I also took a cue from Dawn McVey and her recent post about creating your own die cut frames to come up with the black frame surrounding the card sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card details:
Scarlet Jewel cardstock, Embellishment stamp and die, Fillable Frames #10 die and Mat Stack 4 die by PaperTrey Ink; patterned paper and black card stock from stash; Wine rhinestones by Kaisercraft; sentiment stamp by Amy Butler for K & Co.; Versamark ink.

Valentine Special Delivery

I joined a Valentine treat swap on the PTI forum recently. Hopefully my recipient will have my package delivered to her soon. When I got home from work today, I had a box waiting on my doorstep from Michelle. Oh my goodness, what loveliness was contained inside! Although my pictures don't accurately capture her gorgeous creativity (and please click on them to get a better view), here is a peek at the beautiful card:

Here is a photo of all of the beautiful parcels within the box:
Michelle asked me to tell her several things about myself including my favorite color, favorite treats and what some of my other interests are aside from crafting and then she clearly used my responses to assemble the perfect collection of gifts. Inside these carefully wrapped packages were a box of tea, three Valentine stamps by Verve, tbree small tubes for packaging special goodies, some sheer white polka dot ribbon, a dark chocolate raspberry filled Ghirardelli bar and two books! I was soooooo spoiled! You have truly made not only my day but my entire month, Michelle! I am amazed by your thoughtfulness and creativity. Un grand merci! (A huge thank you!)
